Infant Formula

Neurodevelopment and growth until 6.5 years of infants who consumed a low-energy, low-protein formula supplemented with bovine milk fat globule membranes: a randomized controlled trial

Neurodevelopment and growth until 6.5 years of infants who consumed a low-energy, low-protein formula supplemented with bovine milk fat globule membranes: a randomized controlled trial [internet]. 2021 [cited May 2021]; ASN.

Timby N et al.

The study evaluates neurodevelopment, growth and plasma cholesterol status. This is the first long-term follow-up on the milk fat globule membrane supplementation to infant formula. It looks at whether this effect on early cholesterol concentrations has any programming effect on later cholesterol metabolism would need a longer follow-up time.

Effect of Milk-Based Infant Formula Fortified with PUFAs on Lipid Profile, Growth and Micronutrient Status of Young Children: A Randomized Double-Blind Clinical Trial

Effect of Milk-Based Infant Formula Fortified with PUFAs on Lipid Profile, Growth and Micronutrient Status of Young Children: A Randomized Double-Blind Clinical Trial [internet]. 2021 [cited May 2021]; MDPI.

Rivera-Pasquel M et al.

This clinical trial assesses the effect of polyunsaturated fatty acids-fortified infant formula on lipid profile, growth, and micronutrient status in children. A significant improvement was observed in the lipid profile of children who received infant formula enriched with micronutrients and polyunsaturated fatty acids, compared to children who received formula fortified with micronutrients only.

The effect of preventive use of hydrolyzed protein formula milk on gastrointestinal diseases and physical development of premature infants A protocol for systematic review and meta-analysis

The effect of preventive use of hydrolyzed protein formula milk on gastrointestinal diseases and physical development of premature infants A protocol for systematic review and meta-analysis  [internet]. 2020 [cited May 2021]; Medicine.

Yang Q et al.

This study will compare the effectiveness and safety of these 2 nutritional support methods, and make a comprehensive analysis of the influence of hydrolyzed protein formula milk on gastrointestinal diseases and physical development of premature infants, and finally give a positive conclusion.

Vandenplas Y et al.

This study investigated growth, safety, and tolerance in healthy infants consuming a partly fermented infant formula. Future clinical studies are required to evaluate the potential (long-term) impact of this infant formula on the infants’ developing immune and gastrointestinal systems.

Effect of long-chain polyunsaturated fatty acids in infant formula on long-term cognitive function in childhood: A systematic review and meta-analysis of randomised controlled trials

Effect of long-chain polyunsaturated fatty acids in infant formula on long-term cognitive function in childhood: A systematic review and meta-analysis of randomised controlled trials [internet]. 2020 [cited May 2021]; PloS One.

Verfuerden M et al.

This review examines the effect of randomising infants to formula supplemented with long chain polyunsaturated fatty acids vs unsupplemented formula on cognitive function. It compares the long-term cognitive effects of long chain polyunsaturated fatty acids supplemented versus unsupplemented infant formula in children born at term and preterm.

Growth, Tolerance, and Compliance of Infants Fed an Extensively Hydrolyzed Infant Formula with Added 20 -FL Fucosyllactose (20 -FL) Human Milk Oligosaccharide [internet]. 2021 [cited May 2021]; MDPI.
Ramirez-Farias C et al.

This study evaluates the growth, tolerance and compliance effects of an extensively hydrolyzed formula with added 20 -fucosyllactose in an intended use population of infants. The results of the study demonstrate that the study formula was well tolerated, safe and supported growth in the intended population.
